The Twittique / TL;DR

Embracing the messiness of life & death, @BenTarget & @sohotheatre hold a magnifying glass to the emotional labyrinth of caregiving. With wit, woodwork & Wes Anderson-style aesthetics, this is a sublime, soulful reflection on how we face life's final act.

In @bentarget's #LORENZO, life’s rawest truths meet its most heartwarming tales. Recounting the experience of caring for a lovably eccentric uncle near the end of his life, Target highlights the mosaic of #emotions one undergoes when caring for a sick loved-one… From loyalty to frustration, #joy to heartbreak, longing to relief, Target immaculately captures the most personal & universal of human experiences. This isn't just a story of an elderly architect named Lorenzo; it's a profound exploration of how our society cares (or fails to care) for its #elders…Target’s ability to intertwine personal narratives with broader societal issues, all wrapped in humour & profound depth, is nothing short of enlightening. With the quirkily intricate aesthetics of a #WesAnderson piece, this performance is both visually & emotionally charged, pulling us into a world where even carpentry echoes life’s profound moments…🪓The intimacy of @Summerhallery’s Anatomy Lecture Theatre, and Target's magnetic presence create a space where laughter & tears flow freely. Every prop, every gesture, every word exudes purpose & depth. It’s as if Target’s every movement is a delicate dance between life’s joys & its inevitable sorrow. And the emotional journey he crafts? Think deep introspection punctuated by spontaneous toilet dances…🚽Perhaps the most compelling takeaway is the piece’s ability to pose unsettling questions about end-of-life care, juxtaposing its gravity with humour & hope. It beckons us to rethink our own perceptions & judgments about those twilight years & the society we’ve constructed around them…To say that this performance is a must-watch would be an understatement. It’s a deep dive into the very essence of living: the uncomfortable truths, the genuine laughter amidst tears & the #beauty that emerges when we embrace life in its totality.
