The Twittique / TL;DR

@finellawaddilove’s twisted trek explores a strained friendship, blending prankish humour with gooey body horror. Sharp writing, jump scares & stellar portrayals keep us on edge— but 60 mins feels too short, leaving us hungry for more world building details.

Inspired by the noughties cult classic that kick-started the ‘found footage’ craze, The Blair Bitch Project brings the laughs and the chills in equal measure. Writer/director @finellawaddilove takes us on a goo-filled, tension-packed hike with Fay and Kitty—two long term besties whose friendship hits the rocks deep in the woods… Fay, the ultra-prepared #Monica-type is left stewing as prank-loving, carefree Kitty arrives late & completely unprepared. Things quickly spiral when Kitty starts sweating buckets, bleeding & oozing a substance that’s definitely #sus. As Fay tries to keep it together, the real horror unfolds… Waddilove’s script digs into the grotesque to explore the messier side of adult friendships, echoing questions raised in playwright Yasmina Reza’s #Art— Is our sense of self shaped by our mates? And when those relationships crack, do we break with them? Kitty’s meltdown is more than skin-deep—it’s the bubbling up of long-buried tensions Fay’s desperate to smooth over, but can’t quite fix… The chemistry in this two hander is killer (the non-murdery kind), with sharp performances & just the right mix of humour & horror. But though it’s jam-packed with memorable moments, the mere 60-minute runtime leaves us craving a bit more backstory—& details about the strange horror happening before us. That said, The Blair Bitch Project remains an entertaining ride, tweaking both your nerves & your funny bones in this twisted exploration of female friendship.
