The Twittique / TL;DR

@BoxHouseTheatre 's reimaginings infuse classic folktales with new life. Bare staging focuses on flawless physicality & embraces pure, primal storytelling. From Goldilocks to Vikings we watch physical theatre waltz with Brothers Grimm in a realm of dark whimsy.

Deep in the midst of #CamdenFringe, an unassuming stage is graced with a mere gym mat. Yet, it becomes the setting of an astonishing tapestry of stories in @boxhousetheatre’s “Twisted Tales.” Challenging conventional storytelling norms, this captivating production awakens the essence of ye olde tales in an age where grandiose sets & digital effects often steal the spotlight…☄️👀The #physicaltheatre on display here is nothing short of spellbinding✨ One is instantly reminded of the innovative prowess of legendary troupes like #FranticAssembly, drawing audiences into complex tales through sheer body language. The cast's uncanny synchronicity mirrors that of an expertly conducted orchestra, giving spectators no inkling of their next move…The selection of stories is both familiar & intriguing. Initially journeying through well-trodden paths of “Goldilocks”, “Little Red Riding Hood”, and “Alice in Wonderland”, it subsequently veers into the tumultuous annals of #Viking invasions & the #foundational #tales of England. This clever juxtaposition of the known & the obscure mirrors the likes of Geoffrey Chaucer's "Canterbury Tales," wherein varied stories converge to paint a collective picture…“Twisted Tales” isn’t just a homage to traditional #storytelling, but a rebellious rendition of it. East London’s Goldilocks?😮 A muscle-flexing Huntsman?😯 These refreshing spins breathe contemporary life into timeworn tales. Sprinkled with personal humour & nuanced touches, the tales feel both age-old & profoundly present…The tour de force of this spectacle truly lies in its ensemble⚡⚡ From Lewis Evans’ chilling Wolf to Amy Fielding’s formidable King Alfred, each actor seamlessly traverses over fifty roles. They create grandeur out of simplicity, proving theatre’s potency isn't confined to budgets or elaborate sets🎭…In times inundated with overwhelming tech & visual stimuli, there's a collective yearning for raw, unfiltered storytelling😌 #TwistedTales serves as a reminder of the transformative power theatre holds, using nothing but voice, body, and an undying passion for the craft…
